HOW DOES TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?

The ink used in tattoos is made from minerals. To understand how tattoo removal works think of the ink as tiny "rocks." With multiple treatments, the "rocks" are broken down into smaller and smaller "pebbles." The number of treatments required to get a tattoo off varies greatly based on factors such as the age of the tattoo, whether it was applied by a professional or not, the depth and concentration of ink, the number of colours, the type of laser used, and the technique used to perform the treatments.picosure versus qswitched

The Picosure laser fires in picoseconds. That is one trillionth, or one millionth of one millionth of a second. These pulses create a photomechanical effect, or PressureWave™, that targets ink while avoiding unmarked tissue. PressureWave™ shatters the ink and brown spots into tiny, dust-like particles which are easily eliminated by the body. The result is clearer skin, in fewer treatments, without injuring the surrounding skin.

Picosure vs Q-Switched

Picosure-vs-Q-switch

Traditional lasers used for tattoo removal are called Q-Switches. These nano-second lasers predominantly rely on photothermal action and deliver heat into the pigment and surroundingtissue. A minimum of 6 treatments and upwards of 15 or 20 are required. Complete clearance of ink is an unlikelihood if the tattoo has multiple colours. Scarring is not only possible but probable. The risk of scarring from Q-Switch treatments is heightened by treatment methods that involve multiple passes in the same session.

Picosure laser is the only Picosecond cosmetic laser in the industry, and is an unmatched innovation. What this means to you is less treatments, less damage to surrounding tissue, and a better end result! Skinpossible was the first clinic in Canada to acquire the Picosure; therefore our technicians are very experienced with this technology and you will get superior results. Unlike the older Q-switched technologies, Picosure has no problems removing blue and green ink, and does not rely on thermal technology which can injure the surrounding skin. Picosure is also a smart option for people looking to cover up an older tattoo. As little as one treatment can make a significant difference in fading a tattoo, allowing for more artistic freedom with your cover-up. The skin returns to normal after treatment, and is a perfect canvas for the next tattoo
